Residing in the mountains near Asheville, North Carolina, Michael John continues to study the trumpet, composition, piano, native flute, percussion, and voice with master musicians of various genre.

Michael John produces The Tao Flow, and deejays original music and jazz standards.  As a deejay Michael John explores the soundscape of blues, bluegrass, classical, electronica, folk, funk, jazz, natural phenomena, reggae, and swing music. Michael John also collaborates with singer-songwriter Suncat Meadowlark, the jam-band Seraphim Arkistra, the music studio Good Flow Productions, and many other local and international musicians.

Michael John was born in 1971 in Louisville, Kentucky. Michael John's earliest musical influences were his father's whistling, and the beautiful voices of his mother and "Grams". His first, and perhaps favorite instrument was an oatmeal box his mother lovingly decorated as a drum with a strap to facilitate a standing performance. Piano and guitar studies started at age 6, and trumpet instruction at age 10. Cherished musical memories are of going to symphonies and ballets such as the Nutcracker, the bluegrass of camp meeting revivals, the choirs and gospel sounds of churches that Michael's father pastored. As a child Michael John frequently listened to his mother and father's vinyl record collection of music, classical symphonies and orchestras, and pop music of the 50's and 60's; and as a teen lots of top 40 radio; country, easy-listening, pop, classic-rock and heavy-metal. Michael John participated in youth symphonies as a trumpeter, a vocalist with church and community choirs, and with high school marching bands as local entertainment. Michael John also served as deejay for church youth group events. After graduating high school in 1989, many jobs and many bands, Michael John finds happiness as a composer, deejay, trumpeter and vocalist.
